It is certainly what we have learned to take for granted about our planet. "I am Al Gore, I used to be the next president of the United States," and there is laughter in the audience. So far, no science, but emotional and political emotions are played upon. The scene goes to the view of the planet Earth from the moon, "Earth Rise." Now Gore has appealed to the Apollo space generation - but there remains no science. Time lapsed images of the rotation of the Earth, but no science. Then, as Al Gore talks about his experiences in school, not college, but high school, there is science. It is the science of a sixth grade student who points out the west coast of Africa and the east coast of America,...

In fact, Gore says, "That brings up the basic science of global warming, and I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this, because you know it well." And then he briefly mentions infrared radiation, and global warming "pollution," whatever that is - because he never defines it. Then he shows a cartoon, which invokes images of America's favorite cartoon people from the Simpsons. This is the "preferred" explanation of global warming by Mr. Gore.
Mr. Gore does not spend a lot of time on the science of his ideas on global warming - and he is good to his promise, because there is none in the documentary. No science; and no chemistry to prove his allegations on carbon, or that mankind is the generator of the carbon dioxide (even though basic science suggests that water vapor is 97% of global warming. The viewer is left asking the question - Where is the science in this Oscar winning documentary?

Earth Science Ring of Fire Ring of Fire originally aired on the National Geographic Channel in August, 2007 as part of the Naked Science series produced by Ben Fox and Ian Hunt. The hour-long Ring of Fire program focuses on scientific efforts to understand the danger posed by the 25,000-mile long chain of volcanoes and earthquakes that makes up the Ring of Fire. The video explores scientific explanations for a rise in

Conclusion In the final analysis the film under discussion can be deconstructed and critiqued from a postmodern perspective. This refers to the underlying ideologies and metanarratives that inform the narrative and imagery of the film. From a postmodern point-of-view truth is never static or fixed and is always relative to a certain context or stance. The film in question makes use of a number of rhetorical devices to put forward its

This shows that media outlets have an extremely strong influence on individuals in their belief of global warming. The lack of knowledge in the real application of global warming is startling considering the real earnestness in which each of these individuals expressed their beliefs on global warming. For the second group of individuals who do not believe in global warming, the results are just as mixed as previously. Although they

experienced a series of extreme and devastating weather events including Hurricane Katrina's destruction of New Orleans, Louisiana and other parts of the south in 2005, flooding in Europe in 2005, heavy snowfall in Europe in 2010 and 2011, and flooding throughout Asia from 2005 to the present. Many of these weather patterns are related to El Nino or La Nina storms, which are two-to-eight-year weather patterns where changing wind

Specifically, it has risen a full degree since 1957 (Crittenden & White, 2010; Muller, 2008). Similarly, there is no doubt that carbon dioxide levels have also risen significantly, thirty-six percent since their first recording (Muller, 2008). Proponents of the global warming hypothesis argue that this increasing level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a cause of the greenhouse effect that traps warmth under the lower layers of the
