Customs/Border Expedite Options Initiative Objectives Statement The objective of this initiative is to accelerate the time that inventory is held at the Mexican Border. Currently, there are excessive periods spanning several weeks—and in some instances, months—during which time merchandise is simply stationed at the border without being delivered across it. The logical inference is that these protracted temporal periods are due to the dearth of carriers servicing this location. At present there is only one such carrier.

Thus, the goal is to increase the numbers of carriers to substantially decrease the latency of inventory being delivered across the border. Key Deliverables In this instance the key deliverables are quite literal, and include the delivery of the inventory across the border. To achieve this objective, those deliverables also include a burgeoning of the carrier service working at the Mexican border.

Ideally, there should be at least five dedicated carriers for this particular location, although the latency can become almost non-existent if there were approximately 10 such employees dedicated to this job. Methods for Measuring the Deliverables The aforementioned deliverables are readily measured in days and in number of available personnel, respectively. The length of time it takes individual pieces of inventory to cross the Mexican border is easily quantified according to days.
