Suppose you have a lemonade stand, and when you charge $2 per cup of lemonade you sell 120 cups. But when you raise your price to $3 you only sell 60 cups. Write an equation for the number of cups you sell as a function of the price you charge. Denote "C" for number of cups, and "P" for the price you charge. Assume the function is linear.

C = -60P + 240

Take a look at the table below and write out an equation for f (x).

f (x) -2-2-6-10

f (x) = 4x +

Which of the following are functions? Explain your reasoning for a, b, and c. Keep the definition of a function strongly in mind as you do this problem, it is not nearly as difficult as it may look. Think about whether the relationship between f (x) and x is consistent with being a function or not and explain your reasoning. Problems b & c are multi-part relations so consider all parts when deteriming if they are funcitons.

a. f (x) = x +

Function: one f (x) value for each x value, all x values possible

b. f (x) = 3 if x>2 otherwise f (x) = -2 Function: every x value corresponds to only one f (x) value

c. f (x) = 7 if x>0 or f (x) = -7 if x

E. all loans. The same basic formulas using logarithms can be used to calculate the needed number of investments and/or the time period of investments at a given growth rate that will be needed in order to reach a target level of investments savings (Brown 2010). Both of these applications have very real implications for many individuals, whether they are trying to buy a home or planning for their retirement,

Life Types of math used in a nursing career Math used in a nursing career and in everyday life Nurses use math on a daily basis: on a very basic level, simple arithmetic is required to keep track of supplies, patients, hours worked, and other logistical issues. Math is used to add up a patient's caloric needs, to compare the patient's lab readings such as cholesterol to that of the general population,

Benefit-Costs of pursuing an MBA Even though each of us has his/her own perspective of happiness and sense of life, we all agree that the integral part of these are the financial stability complemented by personal professional success. That is why we all strive very hard to achieve ambitious financial and professional goals and choose our own paths to them. But through historical and empirical evidence it has become clear that

Future in Business and Fashion: My Personal Statement When you know that you want something, you've just got to go for it. At least, that's what my parents always said to me. When you're young, you think that things like this are cliche. Sure, you're supposed to say that, you're my parents. Right? Parents are supposed to be there to uphold your dreams and lift you up so high that

In the long-term, empirical evidence suggests that as many as 80% of young adults abused in childhood meet the formal diagnostic criteria for at least one psychiatric disorder by the age of 21, including some of the most serious such as clinical depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and suicidal inclinations (Silverman, Reinherz, & Giaconia, 1996). The full spectrum of psychological disorders to which adult victims of childhood abuse are typically prone
