The objective of this study is to discuss the strategy students, individuals and businesses can employ in building lasting networking and business relationships. The study suggests exploring the internal and external environment when building the relationships. For example, students can build their relationships with friends, joining social organizations and participating in volunteering. Moreover, the online social networking has been identified as an effective tool to develop an effective networking.
"Successful networking requires a positive mindset. Positive networking focuses on giving, not just taking. Taking time to help others develops lasting relationships based on trust and respect. Students should look for opportunities to grow new friendships, add value to these relationships, and communicate frequently with these friends." (Addams, 2010 p 41).
In the contemporary business and social environment, creating and maintaining business relationships is an effective strategy to create long-term business opportunities. Moreover, people like to deal with people, and networking is the best strategy to meet people and engaging with them. The best strategy to develop and maintain networking is by hosting seminars and invite clients to get-together to generate opportunities. Moreover, attending networking events, and meeting friends can assist people to build lasting business relationships. The social networking such as Facebook, Tweeter, and other social networking websites have become the effective tools to make friends, meet old friends and build long lasting relationships.
Moreover, the networking building can happen externally and internally. The internal networking consists of making friends with co-workers or co-students. The university environment is the best place to make friends and building a long-lasting relationship. It is essential to realize that many students will become professionals after their graduation, thus, the relationships that have been built in schools will be advantageous to them after graduation.
The external networking can be built at dinners, board meeting,, cocktail events, and cocktail parties. One of the advantages internal and external networking is to build long lasting relationships to grow the business. For example, the internal and external relationship can make the business owners build the market base and have access to quality suppliers. In the contemporary business environment, building a market base is advantageous to enhance competitive market advantages, and without the quality market base, business will not be to compete both in the internally and in external markets environments. Moreover, building effective external networking is critical to get access to the quality suppliers and build a market base. In the contemporary business environment, no business can survive without quality suppliers. The quality of suppliers will assist organizations to produce quality products and achieve competitive advantages.
Although, when starting the business newly, building a relationship can be a daunting task, social networking will be effective method to build a customer base and building long-lasting business relationships. Essentially, a start-up business may face challenges to raise the costs of marketing since the business has not yet started to make profits, the online social networking will be an effective method to market businesses with low costs. It is essential to realize online social networking is the fastest method to make friends and build a long lasting relationship. At present, increasing number of individuals and businesses have started using the online social networking to get in contact with friends and build a lasting business relationship. Moreover, if the university is hosting a career fair, and in participating role play will make students to understand the method to make contacts with potential employers, and the role play will assist the students the manner to ask for a business card from potential employers. Students can also build a relationship by extending themselves to the faculty member, to other students as well as other staff in the campus. More importantly, students can join clubs, and sororities association on campus to enhance their leadership and communication skills thereby gaining services in the process. Some students are able to connect employers by arranging excursion or tours to the company plants as well as inviting company representatives to speak in classes.
A student can also build a networking relationship outside the university setting by participating in the community groups such as homeless shelters, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, senior citizen rest homes, and Special Olympics. Through this networking, students will be able to meet new friends, old friends and potential employers. Moreover, participating in hobbies that include the running clubs, photo exhibits, and antique auto shows can assist people to build a network of people and build the last business relationship. The study also suggests that individuals or students can take up coaching young people interested in sports, tutoring in local schools, volunteering in scout group, as well as attending plays in sports, plays and concert events.
