One researcher who claims social media is negative is Jung (n.d.), who believes social media creates a false sense of connection, encourages cyber bullying, decreases productivity, and raises important concerns about loss of privacy. On the other hand, Beres (n.d.) claims that the ill effects of social media can even be felt in the brain and include reduced self-control, lower self-esteem, and a breakdown of human interpersonal relationships.
