One of the benefits of browsing projects on these databases is that they also publish a list of current projects that are underway. This provides an interested party the ability to see the content and quality of current research endeavors which can be used for comparison or a benchmark. For example, if research is already being conducted similar to the current project's objectives, then the ability to find new niches in potential research opportunities within the same broad context exist and can be researched online. There are also other institutions that offer similar opportunities for extramural grants such as the Mayo Clinic and the Johnson Robert and Johnson Foundation who may have funding available for certain research interests.
