Glasser Choice Implementation

The Axiom of Choice Theory that I would choose to emphasize the most for pre-K students is, "The only person whose behavior we can control is our own." I have chosen this axiom because some elements of choice theory may be difficult for young children. For example, Choice Theory calls on people to think about their past experiences and what they want in the future, but young children are more focused on the present given their inexperience.

Therefore, to be the most effective, I choose to concentrate on how I can be an effective role model and disciplinarian.

At the pre-K school level, teachers serve as an important role model to help children develop socially. A good role model will teach children how to show kindness and respect to others. Students learn this behavior by observing how instructors conduct themselves in the classroom. First, teachers need to establish a bond with the student so that they accepted as a role model. Once teachers establish a connection with their students, they can instill acceptable behavior. It is important for teachers to be polite and treat each child with kindness. Teachers needs to recognize the special talents of each child rather than focusing on weaknesses and to encourage and value all contributions.
