Employees do not need to leave the building once they arrive each day, which makes it easier to manage security. The building also has its own sewage treatment plant, and heating and cooling facilities (Johnson). In conclusion, the Pentagon is much more than a Washington area office building concerned with the defense of the nation. It is made up of a group of dedicated men and women who quietly and efficiently run the day-to-day operations of the nation's defense, while studying how to maintain strength and military defense in the future.
