¶ … influential changes in the modern times, we would notice that most of them are intricately connected with economics. Economics can often single-handedly change the course of events because it is extremely powerful in its influence and this is the reason why I have chosen this subject as my major. I developed interest in economics when I did some foundational courses in this subject and realized that it was more interesting than some people gave it credit for.

The one thing that I absolutely love about economics is that its various theories and formulas can be readily applied to various market conditions to test their validity. This is something that we can't do with other subjects. Economics also enhances the ability to think critically as one learns to logically solve various problems. Unlike, some other subjects, Economics is never static or stagnant, it keeps changing and evolving which makes it a highly dynamics field of study.

I am quite familiar with the basics of economics and understand most foundation level concepts, which have already proved quite helpful in understanding important economic changes around the world. But nothing can beat the significance of an accredited degree in this field, which I intend to go for as I plan to pursue a career in economics-related line of work.

It is true that before I learned economics principles, I thought of it as another boring subject meant for those who have nothing better to do than explore the dynamics of market forces. In fact if I had been given a choice, I would have probably chosen some other subject than mathematics or economics as I believed that someone like myself was not cut out for such dry subjects.

But I am so very grateful to my teachers who exposed us to the interesting world of economics because this exposure has helped me develop my skills of analysis and logical problem solving. I am now better aware of corporate affairs and market conditions as they now make more sense to me. During my high school years in China, I learned some complex mathematical concepts, which to my utter surprise have proved valuable in studying economics too.

I am a Chinese student and thus quite used to hard work as high school life is China is completely different from what it is in the United States. Though we despised the strict school life, I must say it taught me a lot about self-discipline, something that I will need in abundance if I get a chance to join this university.

I am looking forward to be a part of University of California because apart from having a very well developed curriculum, it also appears to actively encourage cultural diversity, which makes it a perfect place for International students. I also hope that University will offer plenty of opportunities to maintain a healthy extracurricular life, as.
