This means that there is absolute need for the change in approach by the leadership to ensure those who are in the practice are effective to cover up for the low number of nurses as well as to retain them in the practice. The nurse leaders have a direct bearing in ensuring the care quality is improved, the complex and fast changing nursing environment needs health care leaders who can make their optimal contributions towards making the safe and effective care is realized (American Association of Critical-care Nurses, 2006).

The personal strengths and weaknesses that I have experienced over the years of the nursing occupation are such that my personal growth and development have been at the competent level since I carry out personal evaluation against the set goals every year. I also have enrolled for further classes in management so that it can help me in fusing the nursing profession with it and have a significant impact at my work.

The career planning has also been at the competent level since I have a target level that I look forward to achieving within the next five years, I also fully understand my role within the healthcare facility I am currently working at as well as a well cut out career path that I am pursuing. I would also put the personal journey discipline at the competent level since I have significantly positive and effective leadership within the department and contribute immensely in problem solving whenever they arise.

I also like to carry myself as a leader knowing that in every decision and action that I take there are people looking up to me for example. Being at the departmental leadership position, I will use my ability to make direct contributions during the interdepartmental meeting and advance the views and contributions from my department and the people I work with.

I will also use my knowledge of the nursing standards to ensure that the nurses in my department get the fair and reasonable treatment, have access to the necessary support and also have safety and working environment that is conducive to ensure they are not just productive but safe and healthy too. I will also use the knowledge of the latest technology to advance the interests of the nurses and ensure that they have access to the latest supportive technology in making their work easy.

One personal goal that I have is to ensure that I have emerged as the best servant leader in the entire organization. This is a goal that is driven by the need to have a model leader who will mesh well with employees and give them the hope in being a nurse and view nursing not just as another profession but as a calling to service that one commits to and sacrifices even personal comfort towards.

In order to achieve this, I plan to finish the leadership training that I am undergoing at the moment and at the same time conduct interactive meetings and workshops between my department and other related departments. The theme of the meetings.
