There are expectations for companies to manage human rights issues. There are numerous risks for companies that don't respect human rights. Levi has benefited a great deal from taking a proactive stance on human rights but at the same time it is recommended that complete cost benefit analysis as well as environment scanning should be done. External environmental factors change fast. Unfavorable conditions today could become favorable tomorrow. The economic as well as sociol and political environments are constantly in flux and countries like China could make changes in its policies and its stance of human rights.
