¶ … British Airways has strived for the sustainable success since its inception, and has been successful in development of corporate and business relationship with its valued customer through expansion of its network. The airline industry has evolved relationship with the companies on need cum merit basis, and has been therefore successful in the accomplishment of its financial endeavors. The airline industry has tried to evolve a healthy relationship with its valuable customers which is based on mutual trust and understanding, the airline industry understand the responsibility on its part, and has tried to accomplish objectives and aims through recognition of its role and responsibility as an intermediary brings with it a duty of responsible conduct and engagement (Hooley, 2004). The industry has introduced certain amendments and reforms in its policies, and has tried to broaden the scope of its services, initially the scope of the activities was extremely limited, and the company focused heavily on wealthy class the reasons being that the economic wealth was extremely concentrated, therefore the wealthy class was supported and entertained through different schemes, aimed at creation of wealthy opportunities. According to the official reports released by the management of the company, the company has been able to secure extensive track record in services, have been able to deliver services 'to virtually all of its infrastructure customers, the company has contracted operating services to twenty one operators globally, and provided turnkey implementation for twenty six operators in twenty two countries, and has more than sixty customers for service management, making the company a leader in the market, these marketing tactics has been responsible for the affluent rise and development of the company (Matt, 2005).

The strength of the British Airways has been its continuous concern and measures towards the resolution of the concerns and problems of the passengers. Here has been a period when the air travel was largely avoided by the public only because it caused passengers a major financial chunk. British Airways has been the pioneer among the airline companies which introduced a concept of cheap airfares, and the concept eventually turned into a reality which was responsible for timely and ultimate success of the plans and projects undertaken in this regard (Hooley, 2004). The drop in the airfares were achieved through different means including incorporation of the provisions of the sub-standard services, but even the profile of the sub-standard services has been a source of comfort for the passengers, who were much welcoming towards the cheaper airways tickets. The airline has been successful in procurement of the reasonable market share, although for this purpose the company had to compromise over the profit proportion it achieved per passenger, but the net profit achieved incredible peak (Hooley, 2004). Since its launch the British Airways has been popular worldwide, particularly in Europe for its qualitative standards and reasonable fares, unfortunately with the passage of time the competitive forces took over the stage and influenced the performance and financial earnings of the company significantly. Such imminent threats which are extremely potent due to certain shortcomings on the part of the management of the British Airways were resolved through diversification of its operation (Matt, 2005).

According to different sources the British Airways has adopted the concept of Brand Leverage, where a brand uses the initial brand platform to move into other opportunities, the other opportunities were materialized through cargo services. The British Airways launched its services in mail order records business, and later gradually expanded its services into disparate businesses, as per the notion of diversification; it is therefore more than a surprise for the customers. The diversification can not be exercised without the support of team and local employees, the administration of the British Airways has been widely acknowledged for the positive response and attitude towards their employees and their needs, therefore the diversification of its services, which has never taken place before in that particular sector, was always welcomed and supported by the employees, the employees participated enthusiastically for the launch and development of the products and services (Hooley, 2004). According to reports, British Airways is renowned for its innovative service standards, employee and customer-centric approach. The leader of the airline industry has targeted a strong position for the services of the operators within the expanding market. The company has established dedicated business unit, which has been assigned the responsibility for the reinforcement of the organizational plan within the business group, the purpose of which is to consolidate the opportunities offered by the market. The service business has emerged as an important sector, because it has evolved commonality of airline services and convergence, and quality of service experience for the customers. The company has practiced different tactics, which were reinforced keeping in the view the financial strength of the company, and the number of registered customers. The British Airways reduced the airfares per customer through cost-optimized solution, and introduced affordable and attractive terminals. The marketing objective of the company has been to offer wide range of services at competitive rates, and incorporate quality of international standard into its service package. The company has planned to target the masses, instead of any particular class within the market. Previously, the company restricted its services only to the rich class, butt later on when the competition within the airline industry grew stronger (Hooley, 2004).
