Quality of Care in the Emergency Department provided by Nursing Practitioners

Due to demographic aging, comorbidity, and scarce resources in primary and acute care, emergency departments around the globe see an increase in enrollment, significantly impacting care delivery and results. There have been calls for Emergency Department performance improvement techniques, highlighting the need to discover cost-effective care approaches in terms of cost-effective care schemes in terms of workforce optimization.  The addition of additional care contexts, such as HSCP teams, necessitates well-established institutional culture. People, institutions, services, and platforms must all change to introduce effective practices. To discover implementation variables based on access to healthcare, stakeholders who obtain or deliver health care have become highly relevant.

Roles of stakeholders

Stakeholders are vital individuals who play an important role in the organizational success or those impacted by the organization’s operations. A stakeholder is an entity or an individual with a strong interest in a therapeutic choice and the facts to support it. Stakeholders in the healthcare setting include diverse personnel, including health care professionals, executives, and other professionals who perform clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. Internal stakeholders play a critical role in assisting the successful implementation of the planned change by contributing their skills and experience and suitable leadership in the organization (Griffiths, Maggs &George,2008). Patients, providers, and financial institutions, such as the state and healthcare insurance companies, are external shareholders. They contribute significantly to the implementation of change by providing the necessary resources. Stakeholders generate capacity building, make suggestions, and engage in assessment and quality assurance activities when they are involved at each level.

Stakeholders interested in the project

The National and local government plays an essential role in providing healthcare infrastructure by providing resources for training of the nursing practitioners. Many governments are coming up with new guidelines that authorize the nursing practitioners to practice and the authority to prescribe medicines.

The project has caught the attention of patients, caregivers, and patient, civil rights organizations since it increases illness treatment, training, patient engagement, and judgment call in the treatment process.

The project has the assistance of institutional health care providers such as hospital systems and medical clinics. When nursing practitioners participated in inpatient treatment on the Emergency Department floor, the Nursing Unit Managers noted considerable improvements in inpatient discharge.

The importance of the NPS in the time-sensitive ED setting is questioned by many employers, including emergency department directors. Despite the expenditures connected with such a job, the anticipated NPs do not exceed the patient throughput obtained by junior doctors. Insurance companies provide patients with health coverage plans that enable them to receive high-quality care(Woo, Lee &Tam,2007).

Promoting stakeholder participation

Identifying the project experts who will help with the initial implementation and long-term maintenance is one technique for stakeholder involvement. Stakeholders who are deeply engaged in the care development strategy and influence their colleagues are called program leaders (“Section 2: Engaging Stakeholders in a Care Management Program”, 2014). The leaders assist the management team in planning and providing knowledge based on personal experiences and managing the demands of all other stakeholders.

Possible concerns/barriers from stakeholders

Healthcare partnerships are becoming more popular to solve the issues that impede coordination and contribute to poor service quality. Finding a balance between collaboration and competitiveness is a massive problem for stakeholders (Griffiths, Maggs &George,2008). Many stakeholders are concerned that the alliance’s goals may conflict with the objectives of their organizations. The work of the stakeholders could jeopardize their competitiveness or jeopardize their current company structure. Many stakeholders are apprehensive about joining cooperative initiatives.

Strategies to gain support and assistance the stakeholders

To acquire support from stakeholders, different approaches are used. To gain support creating awareness about the importance of using nursing practitioners in the emergency department, engaging in seminars, periodical forums, and other forums that allow dynamic interactions would benefit the institution.

Continuous communication is a method for gaining and keeping stakeholder support. Program personnel can establish themselves as the primary contact or source of information about the program by communicating with stakeholders regularly. They operate as a point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring that they receive up-to-date and accurate program data and serving as a resource for any concerns or queries they may have(“Section 2: Engaging Stakeholders in a Care Management Program”, 2014). When comparing the quality of care delivered by a nurse practitioner in the emergency room versus not employing nurse practitioners’, communication with stakeholders about the research’s achievements, setbacks, and develop strategies to assist in managing the assumptions and create support for new projects.

Expectations

Emergency departments are challenged to adapt and react to different health delivery methods in the current configuration of health system restructuring and regeneration. Simultaneously, maintain stability and control over procedures that lead to the improvement of goals set and objectives. To overcome this, stakeholders support beginning the program’s implementation and evaluating the nursing practitioner’s quality care in the emergency department setting (Woo, Lee & Tam, 2017). Nursing Practitioners believe in a somewhat more comprehensive approach to patient care. They offer a standard of service that combines medical skills with a loving nurse’s experience.
