Radio and the President
In my opinion regular presidential radio broadcasts should continue. Though there are other media outlets, the radio is still a very big means of communication. In actuality, radio has become even bigger over time, considering that now they have satellite radio. This allows large numbers of people to hear their favorite programming uninterrupted. Studies have actually been done to show what kind of people listen to the radio at what times and what stations. People that would tune in to those presidential radio broadcasts would still do the same thing today, and would possible increase their listening if there were stations that are primarily for presidential broadcast and possibly other political platforms. Communication has always been important and radio has been offering itself as a sounding board a number of years now. Not to mention that radio broadcasts are also utilized on the internet. Continuing to provide this informal broadcast will do a few things. Firstly, the president will continue to provide the same information that they have up to this point. Secondly, they are actually increasing the listening base. The increase occurs because then there may be a blog or article on the internet discussing what the president was discussing. Average Joe or Jane access this site and they could be links to a recording of that radio broadcast. Now someone that may not have necessary been inclined to listen to the radio can gain access to possibly vital information and this could peak their interest into listening to presidential broadcasts regularly. In turn, they may in fact convince their friends to listen. Therefore, it is evident that if these broadcasts continue there is a significant chance that not only will the broadcast maintain current listener base, they would actually stand a chance of increasing the listening base significantly. Therefore, these inferences only further support my opinion in continuing radio broadcasts and allowing time and technology to work in its favor.
