SIGCHI Summary Description of its Structure and Purpose SIGCHI is an international society for those that are "professionals, academics and students who are interested in human-technology and human-computer interaction (HCI)" (SIGCHI, 2011). This is done as a means of using a variety of "conferences, publications, websites, email discussion groups, and other services" (SIGCHI, 2011). Through their efforts, education is advanced as a means using tutorials as well as outreach in order to promote access to other organizations.

A number of local chapters are available which also includes opportunities to take part in public policy (SIGCHI, 2011). Its Overall "Look and Feel" and Apparent Target Audience The look and feel of the website is important. When looking at it, one will notice that it has a white background with blue words. This is not very attractive because a site needs some level of appeal. A way in which to make it more appealing is to have more colors and pictures so that individual will want to join SIGCHI.

As a result, people are going to become more likely to want to take part in this endeavor for the present and future. Furthermore, the apparent target audience is those that are academics, such as students, faculty and staff in the college setting (SIGCHI, 2011). What You Find Useful about this Site What I find useful about the site is imperative. For example, a person is able to get on it at and click on "resources" (SIGCHI, 2011).

Upon clicking on it, an individual will learn that he or she is able to learn of ways in which to there are links for "education, accessibility, intercultural issues" and so forth (SIGCHI, 2011). These help those that are wanting more information in the field of academics. Furthermore, one can learn more about public policy and their email list through this entire process (SIGCHI, 2011). Links There That You Either Did or Intend to Follow-Up The links that I would intend to follow-up on are important.

These include that of the publications, people and conferences. All of these seem quite important to me since I am in the field of academia for my chosen career besides studying as a student as well. Through looking more into these links, I can stay current on what is going on in the world and seek to find ways in which to get my voice heard (SIGCHI, 2011). Any Other Things about the Site that you Find Interesting I find a number of things interesting about this site.

For example, a person can find out more information on how to connect to others who are apart of SIGCHI. This includes ways in which a person can join the organization, membership benefits and ways for a person to volunteer as well as an index of local chapters. Through these efforts, an individual is able to understand more about the organization and find ways to contribute to it on a regular basis.

A person can mentor others; work on the sites domain, local chapters, and those that are willing to review the conference (SIGCHI, 2011). Bottom-Line Evaluation of its Value to You The bottom-line evaluation of its value is important.
