Another area of nursing where I feel like book-learning is not sufficient is the practical needs of daily patient care. I understand the appropriate protocols for patient care and management, but I have not been able to observe how those are implemented in different medical environments. I know that different nurses have different nursing styles, and I would like the chance to observe those and see which one fits best with my own personality. Moreover, I have heard stories about difficult patients, but I do not have any type of intuitive understanding of the best-practices approach for dealing with those patients. I believe that an internship program will expose me to these practical aspects of nursing in a way that will, ultimately, make me a better nurse.
