The therapist will generally have an initial session with the couple, and then a joint session so the past and the family can be discussed. Then the therapist will want to meet with each person individually, and then meet with them together again so they can get feedback and set goals. However, each therapist may set his or her own "plan" for counseling, and can make changes as he or she sees fit.
