The increasing demand for Italian food has contributed to the growth of restaurant chains such as Olive Garden, owned by General Mills, which has more than 100 units, and Sbarro, which has more than 500 outlets in forty-eight states. The acceptance of Italian food is not a fad. This ethnic food preference has staying power.
