What is Contrast?

Like a compare and contrast essay, a contrast essay asks you to choose two or more items and ideas and write about them.  However, instead of highlighting similarities between the two things, a contrast essay will describe how they are different.  It is important to note that, in order to have an effective contrast essay, there must be some similarities or shared middle ground between the things being contrasted.  A contrast essay that focused on the differences between a roller skate and the planet Jupiter would contain a lot of contrast, but would be almost incoherent.  However, a contrast essay that focused on the differences in Earth and Jupiter would start from the point where they are similar (planets in the same solar system) and then highlight differences.

Language of Apparel From France Cultures
As in most of Europe of the time period, the 18th century was a complex mix of political, social and cultural ideas that would eventually change the manner in which society defined itself. In France, for instance, clothing became a clear statement of class and economic health, as well as a way to import and export textiles and the ideas of clothing to other countries. Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence in Order
The key contrast is that both data warehouses and BI are two totally different constructs. The first refers to systems that are used for storing data for archival, analysis, and security purposes. The second refers to variety of software applications that are used to analyze the data that the organization has accumulated. Forrester Research, for instance, distinguishes BI by defining them as " a set of methodologies, processes, architectures, and technologies that transform raw data into meaningful and useful information used to enable more effective strategic, tactical, and operational insights and decision-making." (Evelson, 2008).
