Two classics of nineteenth century American children's literature--Mark Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Louisa May Alcott's Little Women--are discussed in terms of the issues of work and play. Tom Sawyer's episode of fence-whitewashing is discussed, in terms of how it presents children's work and play as a parody of capitalism. Alcott's description of the "experiment" of all play and no work for the March sisters is examined in terms of how women's work is defined socially. In both cases, the issue of slavery is brought up to provide a point of comparison to the child's problematic role in the economy of work.

This paper consists of three separate essays on the roles of nurse specialists and advanced practice nurses. The first question discusses the evolving role of nurse specialists and different specialties in the field. The second question deals with intra-professional conflict between nurses within a specialty. The third question discusses the difference between APNs and clinical nurse specialists (CNS).

The Christian Church has always had strict regulations when concerning matters like abortion. Even with the fact that the Christian Bible contains no information about the practice, many Christians have gotten actively engaged in trying to denounce it as being against God's will. Some branches of the Church are, however, hesitantly willing to accept abortion in particular cases because they acknowledge that one can look at the matter from a series of different perspectives. One of the most divisive problems about the relationship between Christianity and abortion relates to how the latter can be associated with the gravest sin when considering things from the religious ideology's point of view: murder.

Broude presents arguments against the myth of the first three years by exposing some of the fallacies propagated by popular neuroscience. The first argument that she makes is that the stage of brain development is not the same as the stage of child development. She argues that the fact that the brain is developing connections rapidly should not be taken to imply that the connections are being formed as a result of rapid learning. She argues instead that the forming of connections among neurons is simply the stage-setting for learning to take place in later years of the lifespan. This paper discuses the concept of wrongful convictions in the international context by focusing on three countries: Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. The essay analyzes individuals who were wrongfully convicted, their condition consequent to being released from prison, the compensations that they received, etc. It also relates to concepts that make it likely for particular individuals to be wrongfully convicted.

Research Intent: To heat a certain proportion (5%) of whey protein isolate (WPI) at a specific temperature (50.C) at a very rapid rate (1 minute). I would contrast that with heating 5% of WPI at 70.C. And use a third control group of heating another 5% of WPI at 90.C. Objective: To determine whether there is a difference in foaming properties when the WPI is heated at three different rates of speed and to note whether there is improvement in foaming property at a certain speed rate.

Whatever It Takes – Paul Tough Introduction The book, Whatever It Takes, by Paul Tough became a best seller because it captured the attention of people in both a scholarly way and yet because of its easy-to-read, entertaining format, and because the issues that Tough writes about are very important to the future of America. That important issue involves education and getting families from disadvantaged communities to rise up and seize opportunities to become enriched socially and economically. Tough highlights the ups and the downs of an expensive, 97-block project called the Harlem Children's Zone. This paper reviews and critiques the book. Thesis: An impoverished community can be awakened to a fresh new approach to education, and with cooperation and hard work, the children in that community can be given a far better future. This book is the perfect illustration of important socioeconomic transitions that must take place for that brighter future.
