What is Definition?

Ironically, the definition of the term “definition essay” is not very specific.  Definition essays are short pieces of writing on a particular topic.  However, not every essay on a topic can be properly labeled a definition essay.  Instead, a definition essay is an attempt to describe the topic thoroughly enough for the reader to understand it very well and might be compared to an encyclopedia entry for the topic.  Any of our example essays could provide a good start on a definition essay about the topic.  However, we have collected a sample of our best definition essays and included them below to help you explore the genre.

Gay marriage, or same-sex marriage, is one of the most controversial topics in the modern age. It can be a divisive topic because many people feel strongly about the issue from both sides. Many argue that any form of partnership should have equal rights as the traditional marriages do and cite legal arguments and make reference to the constitution. However, more conservative points of view believe that marriage should be preserved as it has been for thousands of years, between a man and a woman. These individuals often use religious or other culturally based arguments to justify their position. This paper will view the argument from both sides and provide insights into why this topic has become one of the most polarizing issues in the range of current topics.

Loyalty\' Three Aspects of Concept: Brand Experiences,
The essay lists the 7 most populaar brands and associates them with Brakus et al (2009)to show why they are so. Each of these fits the definition of brand experiences as conceptualized by Brakus et al (2009) as something which consists of sensations, feelings, cognitions, and behavioral responses. Each of these factors too is evoked by certain aspects of the brand's packaging such as environment, communication, and overall stimuli. Brand experience, therefore, according to Brakus et al (2009) is synonymous to brand image which essentially consists of four dimensions: sensory, affective, intellectual, and behavioral. When each of these four concrete dimensions is fulfilled, customer loyalty is the end result since the customer has been satisfied in all sensory and evaluative dynamics.
