What is Issues?

Personal issues as an academic subject appears across nearly every discipline because real-world problems rarely stay neatly within a single field. Students in business, healthcare, ethics, economics, political science, and social sciences are routinely asked to identify, analyze, and propose solutions to concrete problems. What makes this broad topic academically compelling is that "issues" require writers to move beyond description — they must diagnose causes, weigh competing interests, and evaluate consequences. Whether the context is a company's ethical conduct, a public health challenge, or a policy dispute, the underlying intellectual task is the same: transforming a messy problem into a structured argument.

The papers archived here reflect a wide range of analytical approaches. Case studies dominate, examining specific organizations, individuals, and scenarios to draw broader conclusions — from business conduct at companies like Office Depot to ethical dilemmas in healthcare settings. Other papers take a diagnostic angle, identifying conflict or systemic dysfunction in real-world situations. Policy-oriented work appears as well, including economic analysis and explorations of fiscal policy problems. Some papers engage with research-based topics such as stem cell research and mental health supervision, blending scientific evidence with ethical reasoning.

A strong essay on personal issues begins with a clearly scoped problem statement that specifies who is affected, under what conditions, and why the issue matters. Evidence carries the most weight when it comes from credible sources directly tied to the case or context being examined. The most common pitfall is treating the issue as self-evident — strong papers define the problem precisely before attempting to address or resolve it.

Cybercrime has long been perceived to represent new crimes arising from the emergence of technological advancement, but an examination of the history of cybercrime reveal that its roots are as ancient as the crimes of fraud, harassment, and malicious property damage. Some gains have been realized, such as stemming the losses incurred from identity theft, but the virtual landscape changes so rapidly that new threats and criminal tactics are constantly emerging.

Differential Impact of Play Therapy on Developmental Levels of Children
Child centered play therapy (CCPT) applies clinically relevant techniques to working with children as children prefer play to talking. Play shifts from egocentric to social as the child moves from the preoperational to the concrete operational stage. Previous research has indicated that CCPT has been effective intervention for children across these age groups, but the impact on parent child relationship stress is not well documented, nor is the differential effects of CCPT on children in the preoperational and concrete operational stages. The current study addresses these issues.

Some useful theories are Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the McGregor XY Theory test, Hofstede's cultural assessments, Tuckman's four stages of forming, storming, norming Group Stages, and the 7 dimensions of corporate culture. Using these and other tools, we discover that Southwest Airlines, Inc. and the Coca-Cola Company use widely different tactics and dimensions, yet both are leaders in their industries. Clearly, knowledgeably applying different tactics and dimensions can be highly successful.

Fox News Please Revise/Edit the Submitted Research
In a stunningly short period of time, Fox News went from being the potentially disastrous offshoot of America's "fourth network" to literally the most watched news network in the country (Nielsen, 2012; Sterling, 2004, p. 654). The network bills itself as "Fair and balanced," but there are times when this tagline seems less than an actual description of the network and more of a cruel joke. Regardless of one's political leanings, even a cursory glance at Fox News' products, whether on television or the Internet, suggests that contrary to its tagline, the network is anything but balanced. Instead, Fox News demonstrates a conservative bias, and because this bias is so contrary to the stated position of the network, it positively demands analysis and discussion. By examining Fox News' output in conjunction with relevant research on the topic, it becomes clear that not only is Fox News conservatively biased in its editorial and manifest content, but also that this bias has actually produced tangibly negative results for its viewers.
