What is Leadership?

A leadership essay is any essay that focuses on the topic of leadership.  These essays can take a number of different formats and are often heavily-dependent on their prompts.  For example, you may be asked to write about various theories of leadership, with servant leadership being an especially popular topic.  You may also be asked to describe your experience with a leader that you admire and explain what you admired about his or her leadership skills.  However, the most frequent type of leadership essay is probably one that asks you describe a time that you acted as a leader.

Media: forms, functions, and contemporary applications
The existence of a pro-business, pro-government bias led to ineffectual journalistic coverage of U.S. unemployment during the period leading up to the 2008-2009 recession. In what has come to be known as the Great Recession because of its comparability to the Great Depression, the U.S. unemployment rate reached historic highs. The magnitude of the recession was such that economists and policy-makers should have been better prepared to manage the looming crisis, but instead were caught unawares because they relied on self-serving forecasts that minimized unemployment forecasts. The news media was complicit in its minimalist coverage of the unrealistic projections that the Bush White House and administration served up. This paper explores reasons the news media rarely challenged the consistently inaccurate unemployment forecasting, projections that should have informed policy decisions and warned the country that the U.S. was entering one of the worst employment crises in its history.

Value congruence across generations
There is some minor disagreement over the definitions of Baby Boomer and Millennial generations in the academic research. For instance, Murphy, Gibson & Greenwood (2010) in their research define Baby Boomers as those born between the years 1946 and 1964 and Millennials as those 76 million people born between 1980 to the present, while Rawlins, Indvik and Johnson (2008) define Millennials as those 81 million people born from 1982 to the present. In addition, Andert (2011) defines Millennials as those people born during 1980 and 2000.
