What is Position?

Position as an academic topic spans a wide range of disciplines, from business administration and public policy to nursing, education, and personal development. Courses in organizational behavior, healthcare management, political science, and professional writing all prompt students to examine what it means to hold, argue for, or strategically occupy a position — whether that refers to a job role, a policy stance, a formal argument, or a place within an institution. The topic is academically interesting precisely because it sits at the intersection of identity, authority, knowledge, and strategy, requiring writers to think carefully about how individuals and organizations establish and justify where they stand.

The papers collected here take notably varied approaches. Some are analytical, examining how organizations and companies leverage employee experience and satisfaction to strengthen their competitive position. Others are policy-oriented, addressing issues in education, nursing practice, or public administration, including cultural diversity in nursing and the role of strategic planning in public policy. Still others are personal and reflective, asking writers to assess their own professional success, goals, and future plans. Case analyses and reviews — including examinations of leadership models in healthcare and the effects of deregulation on global finance — round out the range with applied, evidence-based approaches.

A strong essay on this topic begins with a clearly scoped thesis that specifies whose position is being examined and in what context — avoiding the common pitfall of treating "position" so broadly that the argument loses focus. Evidence drawn from organizational data, policy documents, professional guidelines, or concrete personal experience tends to carry the most weight. Writers should connect their specific case or argument back to broader principles, whether about leadership, institutional design, or professional identity, to demonstrate analytical depth beyond simple description.

Administrative Law and Due Process
The legal foundation for due process in the U.S. is the 5th Amendment which stipulates that the infringement of certain rights of citizens with respect to life, liberty, and property will not be permitted without due process of law. The two fundamental aspects of due process are notice and hearing. The processes themselves have evolved over time, but they are manifestations of the idea that deleterious legal action is not to be taken without notice to those impacted, and that deleterious legal action is not to occur—even when notice has been given—without sufficient consideration and evidence that the action is appropriate under the law. . Access to agency information is necessary to ensure that the appropriate implementation of policy. In Shapiro v. United States (1948), the Supreme Court upheld the policy that regulated agencies must retain and release upon request to government regulators those records necessary for policy enforcement and protection of the public.

Rhetoric in Great Speeches
Rhetoric in Great Speeches Introduction – Cultural / Ideological Analysis Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) is credited by objective scholars and historians as having brought the United States out of the Great Depression, and as having guided the United States through the difficult and dangerous period during World War II. FDR was fiercely challenged by members of Congress when he was working to dig the country out of the Great Depression with his "New Deal." Members of Congress attacked FDR's programs as "socialism" – these attacks – using "socialism" as a hot-button word to stir up the population – were quite similar to what the current U.S. president, Barack Obama was accused of as he battled to win legislative approval of his signature healthcare reforms, the Affordable Healthcare Act. Along the way to achieving his goals to get the country on a financially even keel and to defeat Hitler and the Japanese, FDR's leadership was bolstered by his well-crafted speeches to the country. Thesis Many historians and scholars have posited that FDR's performance as president during the Great Depression and throughout most of World War II achieved levels of success beyond what any president ever faced before or after. One of the pivotal reasons he was so remarkably effective as president was that his speeches were extraordinarily well written and presented. FDR's speeches were designed to have great influence on the citizenry, and they certainly did. He used the power of his position as president – embracing ethos in the sense of asserting his absolute credibility – and he indeed achieved the credibility he demanded. In fact by originating the "fireside chat" – radio addresses that had a home-town tone but came from a lofty rhetorical authority – he presented truth, sincerity, and solution-based themes.

Tone and Voice Life Can Be Very
This paper discusses two short stories: "What Broke My Father's Heart" and "Patient." Both stories deal with individuals who have to deal with the realities of illness and injury. The two patients deal with disbelief at their circumstances, anger and self-pity over what they have to deal with, and then finally succumb to the fact that they have to change.

Doll\'s House: Ibsen\'s Prescient Commentary
This is a six page paper about Henrik Ibsen's play "A Doll's House," using 4 external references in a literary criticism format. The paper is about gender, of course, and about how the issues related to gender are still important now using one article related to the importance of marriage and how marriage has changed. The society still has a long way to go, but Ibsen wrote this long before he could have known how important his commentary could be.

Famine, Affluence, Morality Peter Singer\'s Principle Goal
Singer's conception of morality and his unconventional notions of charity and duty seem to be correct as propagated in Famine Affluence and Morality. Moreover, the author's usage of the Bengali case study during 1971 is exemplary in proving his point. I support the author's notions, and offer a variety of reasons why.

Descartes' mind-body argument and philosophical counterexamples
Dualism, in the form of philosophers such as Descartes, Aristotle and Plato came forth with convincing arguments for separation between mind and body, but, at the end of the day, neuroscience supports physicalize – that body is reduced to mind and mind reduced to body –with both being inextricably linked. Descartes, and similar dualists, nonetheless, had convincing arguments to support their claims. Body and mind do seem to be separate entities, and, even though, the two are shown to be linked, we still cannot explain how and why the body, an insensate element, feels pain, nor where this qualia/ consciousness of mind that is ultimately brain that is ultimately material (or physical) essence comes from. Not all matters of science can be resolved, and this (mind containing consciousness) seems to be one of its enduring mysteries. Neuroscience, however, has shown mind and body to be linked, supporting a monism that is closely laid on physicalism. This seems to be the answer at the end of the day.
