What is Primary Sources?

Primary sources are original, firsthand materials that serve as the direct evidence researchers analyze rather than interpret through another writer's lens. Students across a wide range of disciplines — including history, English composition, religious studies, business research methods, nutrition, and law — engage with this topic because understanding what qualifies as a primary source, and how to use one effectively, is foundational to academic inquiry. The distinction between primary and secondary sources shapes how arguments are built, how evidence is evaluated, and how scholarly credibility is established in virtually every field of study.

The papers archived on this topic approach primary sources from several directions. Some focus on methodology and research design, examining how to locate, select, and justify sources within a formal research framework. Others take a subject-specific angle, such as analyzing primary sources in tax law, exploring historical documents related to figures like Frederick Douglass, or investigating the life of the historical Jesus. Additional papers address practical concerns like finding primary sources on the internet, distinguishing data from information, and identifying the problems that arise when researching and writing with firsthand materials.

A strong essay on primary sources should establish a clear thesis about their function or value within a specific research context rather than simply defining the term. Evidence carries the most weight when it demonstrates hands-on engagement — explaining how a particular source type shapes interpretation or where it creates analytical challenges. The most common pitfall is treating primary and secondary sources as interchangeable, so careful attention to how each category serves a different evidentiary role is essential to a focused, credible argument.

Estimating money demand using regression analysis and demand curves
The international community is currently facing the most severe crisis since the Great Depression of 1929 – 1933. It started within the American real estate sector and soon expanded to the rest of the sectors, as well as to the rest of the global economies. The causes and impacts of the crisis have often been discussed in the media and within the specialized literature, and the discussion is far from over. Still, this approach to the crisis is more descriptive and reflective. At this stage nonetheless, it is necessary to implement a proactive approach through which to promote solutions to overcoming the crisis.

Daughter of Time Everybody Knows That Richard
The Daughter of Time "Everybody knows that Richard III, the last of the Plantagenet kings, murdered his two nephews. But everybody could be wrong – according to Scotland Yard's Inspector Grant, who studies 500-year-old evidence to try to determine who really killed these two heirs to the British throne…" (Harris, 2001, p. 1). Introduction On the initial page of author Josephine Tey's book, The Daughter of Time, the author (whose real name is Elizabeth MacKintosh and who also uses the name Gordon Daviot) embraces the quote, "Truth is the Daughter of Time." That is an appropriate use of the proverb because much of the discussion of Tey's fictitious historical novel centers on the concepts of truth and perception when it comes to King Richard III. Summary of the Book One of Tey's characters that she uses in this novel, and in several of her other books, Alan Grant, is an inspector with Scotland Yard in London. Because Grant is normally very active and on the go, when he is confined to a hospital bed – as he is at the outset of the novel – instead of his normal gumshoe detective work he puts his investigative mind and imagination to work. His investigative side has been activated because a friend has brought Grant a reproduction of a portrait of King Richard III. It can be said with assurance that the arguments that Tey presents in this novel are organized in a very clear manner, and indeed the book presents it's narrative in a readable form, following the work of Grant and his associates with clarity and logic.

Start and Run a Successful
The society of today is undergoing a wide array of changes, some present at the economic level, others at a political level, or others at a demographic level. Regardless of the nature of the change, the fact remains that the population itself is undergoing numerous processes of change and adaptation to the dynamic contemporaneous society. One important feature in this sense is represented by the eating habits of the population, which are now more focused on cost effectiveness and ease of consumption. The fast food industry is as such flourishing, but the negative impacts upon the health of the consumers are beginning to show. In such a setting, a fast food restaurant serving pasta products would represent a still easily accessible, cost effective solution, but one which better safeguards the health of the population.

It has been argued that most of the deviant cases are not criminal, and some crimes are not deviant as they do not go against societal norms
