What is Process Essays (Examples)?

A process essay is fundamentally different from other types of academic writing assignments.  In fact, it is closer to technical writing than to other types of academic writing. That is because a process essay describes a process that leads to a specific outcome.  There are two approaches to the process essay.  The first approach is often referred to as a directional process essay and is the simpler of the two approaches; it describes the steps necessary to complete a task.  The second approach to the process essay does more than outline steps, it also analyzes or explains the steps involved in the process.  The wording of your assignment will be important when you are trying to determine which approach to take while writing your process essay.

The introduction of your process essay needs to accomplish several things.  First, it needs to introduce the process you are going to describe, and give background information about that process, when such information is necessary.  Next, it needs to identify your audience.  Identifying your audience does not require actually saying the targeted audience for your essay, but, if your reader needs a certain educational, technical, or professional background to understand the essay, then the introduction provides a great opportunity for you to provide that material.

The body of the essay involves your actual descriptions of the process.  For simple directional process essays, the body of the essay involves a step-by-step description of each part of the process.  For analytical process essays, in addition to outlining the steps you might explain them to the reader or analyze whether the steps are necessary to the process and make the process more efficient, or should be eliminated or changed in order to maximize efficiency and performance.

Finally, the conclusion of your essay will reiterate what you hope to achieve with the process described in the essay.  If you have analyzed the process and found it lacking, the conclusion may also describe suggestions for further study or review.

Media representations of satanic abuse in social science literature
Today, isolated but sensationalized reports of satanic abuse can still create the widespread perception that these practices are commonplace and are increasing in prevalence. The hysterical reaction that can sweep through entire communities is proof positive of the continuing relevance of this phenomenon today. Irrespective of the actual reality of the satanic entity, the implications of these reactions for some people are profound and severe and may even cause some people to experience potentially life-threatening mental health issues as a result. To gain some additional insights into these reactions, this paper provides a comparison of satanic abuse representations in the popular media and social science literature, followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.

Knowledge sharing in boundaryless healthcare organizations
The concept of the boundaryless organization demonstrates a trend in healthcare and elsewhere that claims that an organization is most effective when it is collaborating with all inside and outside interests to build a dynamic workplace that works best for everyone. The challenges might simply be information sharing but it can also take the form of communication for change. The health care field is an ever changing network of core and support personnel as well as a whole pool of individual consumers that utilize services and might have an important role to play in positive change. This work will briefly discuss the historical utilization of boundaryless organization tool by looking at what techniques have been most effective for sharing information and ideas, what techniques were ineffective in the past and at how these techniques might be used in the future i.e. how these techniques might be applied or modified in a healthcare work environment, and how technology can impact this process.

Cellular proliferation in cancer development
One 60-year old might develop cancer and another 60-year old with identical promoters might not develop cancer as a result of mutations that have occurred with the cancer-laden 60-year old. For example, while these two elderly adults may have started off with the same promoters, the person who eventually developed cancer did so as result mutations occurring in the noncoding region of the gene, such as the promoter sequences that regulate the gene (cancer.gov). A mutation which occurs in the promoter region can alter the rate of protein production. This can cause unregulated cell growth and amp up the progress of cancer (Cancer.gov). For example, the 60-year old with cancer might have originally had the same promoters as the non-cancerous 60-year old, but may have suffered from a wide variety of mutations in non-coding regions such as in his promoters causing the "…production of important checkpoint proteins to malfunction. Collectively, these mutations conspire to change a genome from normal to cancerous" (Cancer.gov).
