What is Process Essays (Examples)?

A process essay is fundamentally different from other types of academic writing assignments.  In fact, it is closer to technical writing than to other types of academic writing. That is because a process essay describes a process that leads to a specific outcome.  There are two approaches to the process essay.  The first approach is often referred to as a directional process essay and is the simpler of the two approaches; it describes the steps necessary to complete a task.  The second approach to the process essay does more than outline steps, it also analyzes or explains the steps involved in the process.  The wording of your assignment will be important when you are trying to determine which approach to take while writing your process essay.

The introduction of your process essay needs to accomplish several things.  First, it needs to introduce the process you are going to describe, and give background information about that process, when such information is necessary.  Next, it needs to identify your audience.  Identifying your audience does not require actually saying the targeted audience for your essay, but, if your reader needs a certain educational, technical, or professional background to understand the essay, then the introduction provides a great opportunity for you to provide that material.

The body of the essay involves your actual descriptions of the process.  For simple directional process essays, the body of the essay involves a step-by-step description of each part of the process.  For analytical process essays, in addition to outlining the steps you might explain them to the reader or analyze whether the steps are necessary to the process and make the process more efficient, or should be eliminated or changed in order to maximize efficiency and performance.

Finally, the conclusion of your essay will reiterate what you hope to achieve with the process described in the essay.  If you have analyzed the process and found it lacking, the conclusion may also describe suggestions for further study or review.

Administrative Law and Due Process
The legal foundation for due process in the U.S. is the 5th Amendment which stipulates that the infringement of certain rights of citizens with respect to life, liberty, and property will not be permitted without due process of law. The two fundamental aspects of due process are notice and hearing. The processes themselves have evolved over time, but they are manifestations of the idea that deleterious legal action is not to be taken without notice to those impacted, and that deleterious legal action is not to occur—even when notice has been given—without sufficient consideration and evidence that the action is appropriate under the law. . Access to agency information is necessary to ensure that the appropriate implementation of policy. In Shapiro v. United States (1948), the Supreme Court upheld the policy that regulated agencies must retain and release upon request to government regulators those records necessary for policy enforcement and protection of the public.

Architectural Monuments of Chavin Written
Written in 2008 by William J. Conklin and Jeffrey Quilter, Chavín: Art, Architecture, and Culture was published by the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA to reinterpret one of South America's most important archeological sites: Chavín de Huántar. Located in the mountain valleys of Peru near the confluence of the Mosna and Huanchecsa rivers, Chavín de Huántar was built in approximately 1200 BCE by the Chavín civilization, one of the region's most influential cultures during the pre-Incan era. A collection of monuments, gathering grounds, and massive temples, Chavín de Huántar was considered to be the focal point of the Chavín people's system of worship, with people making pilgrimages for hundreds of miles to assemble in one of the site's enormous plaza's, and to make offerings to their deities in the region's most prominent temple. As Conklin and Quilter explain in their comprehensive analysis, Chavín de Huántar was more than simply one civilization's capital city or ceremonial center; it was one of the world's most advanced architectural sites of its era. By approaching the study of Chavín de Huántar's distinctive architectural attributes with both a scholar's precision and a student's passion, Conklin and Quilter's Chavín: Art, Architecture, and Culture represents perhaps the most thorough and up to date examination of this historical site's architectural significance.
