What is Process Essays (Examples)?

A process essay is fundamentally different from other types of academic writing assignments.  In fact, it is closer to technical writing than to other types of academic writing. That is because a process essay describes a process that leads to a specific outcome.  There are two approaches to the process essay.  The first approach is often referred to as a directional process essay and is the simpler of the two approaches; it describes the steps necessary to complete a task.  The second approach to the process essay does more than outline steps, it also analyzes or explains the steps involved in the process.  The wording of your assignment will be important when you are trying to determine which approach to take while writing your process essay.

The introduction of your process essay needs to accomplish several things.  First, it needs to introduce the process you are going to describe, and give background information about that process, when such information is necessary.  Next, it needs to identify your audience.  Identifying your audience does not require actually saying the targeted audience for your essay, but, if your reader needs a certain educational, technical, or professional background to understand the essay, then the introduction provides a great opportunity for you to provide that material.

The body of the essay involves your actual descriptions of the process.  For simple directional process essays, the body of the essay involves a step-by-step description of each part of the process.  For analytical process essays, in addition to outlining the steps you might explain them to the reader or analyze whether the steps are necessary to the process and make the process more efficient, or should be eliminated or changed in order to maximize efficiency and performance.

Finally, the conclusion of your essay will reiterate what you hope to achieve with the process described in the essay.  If you have analyzed the process and found it lacking, the conclusion may also describe suggestions for further study or review.

Is Predicting Terrorism a Beneficial Proposition for Intelligence for Counter-Terrorism Stakeholders?
Sovereign states have always had a vested interest in accurately predicting the course of future events, from the ancient espionage of medieval courts to the advanced intelligence agencies used today, but the process of anticipating and neutralizing threats on a preemptive basis has proven to be exceedingly difficult in the age of modern terrorism. Western powers explicitly targeted by Al-Qaeda and other jihadist organizations, including the United States, Great Britain, and other industrialized nations, have been forced to exist in a state of perpetual tension, knowing that the next spectacularly-scaled attack is inevitable but lacking the specific foresight needed to prevent its occurrence. With billions of dollars being invested annually to fund counterterrorism intelligence operations, and scant evidence that these efforts have constituted an efficient and effective use of valuable resources, many governments have begun to reassess this philosophy of preventative vigilance. The incredible complexity of geopolitical relations dictates that "we cannot the outcomes of events in an open system with multiple independent variables," and this observation is especially disconcerting when one considers that "the international system in which the state and its intelligence agencies must operate is such a system" (Quiggin, 2006).

Technology and theology: intersection and implications
Peter Weyland's 2023 TED talk provides an intriguing perspective on the idea of a god and generates much controversy as a result of trying to change society's understanding of this concept. The power to create is indeed, an impressive feat, and it is only natural for humans to feel privileged because of coming to control this power. Weyland's speech is referring to androids whom people are going to have difficulties differentiating from real humans in a few years time. When regarding matters solely from the perspective provided by Ridley Scott's 2012 motion picture Prometheus, it would only be safe to say that the power to create provides one with the ability to relate to him or herself as being a god.
