The definition of a hedge fund is vague. The hedge funds can be analyzed in terms of the legal operation methods followed, and also based on the principles of hedging and strategies they pursue. ‘Hedge fund' was a term used in 1949 to describe a business that Alfred Winslow Jones created. The business operation consisted mainly of reducing future risk by buying currently undervalued stocks and ‘simultaneously short selling' overvalued stocks, and because of the possible future differences of the prices of either equity the profit could be made.
