A synthesis essay is a very specific type of research paper, where you are asked to draw upon specific sources to support your thesis.  These sources are generally ones that have been assigned as reading for a class or that relate to reading and lectures from your class.  The synthesis referred to in the title is the ability to connect these sources to each other to support a unifying theme or idea in your paper.

There are two main types of synthesis essays: argumentative and explanatory.  An explanatory synthesis essay helps the reader better understand an idea and is similar to an expository essay.  An argumentative synthesis essay uses information gained from the various sources to support an argument.  In your introduction, you will make it clear whether you are writing an explanatory or argumentative essay.  This is usually done via your thesis statement, which provides a very brief explanation of the goal of your essay.

Because a synthesis draws upon your knowledge of sources, you can expect part of the body of your synthesis to focus on summarizing your sources.  Depending on the nature of the essay, you may be summarizing the entire source or simply summarizing one or more of the ideas contained in the source.

In the body of your synthesis essay, you are also going to carry out the goals you outlined in your introduction.  For an explanatory essay, you will develop the relationship between the sources and show how they work together to explain your topic.  In an argumentative essay, you will focus more on developing the relationship between the ideas expressed in your sources and how, when put together, those ideas support your thesis statement.

The conclusion of your synthesis essay will restate your thesis and then highlight how you have supported that thesis.  If you are still confused about the structure of a synthesis essay, we suggest looking through our free example essays for more guidance.

Cricket in Times Square Instructional
- Differentiated instruction allows the instructor to use alternative ways to help learners acquire content. It is based largely on the principles of constructivism, in which learners must find ways to attach meaning to concepts in order for those concepts to make sense. This means that different learners have different ways of mastering techniques, of making the material relevant, and of retaining the information. Differentiated instruction also helps the learner move from rote memorization into finding meaning in synthesis and analysis of the material

Merger Activity Due in Large
The past two centuries have been characterized by an increasing amount of merger activity due in large part to the internationalization of trade, the globalization of the transportation industry and innovations in telecommunications. Mergers have been used for a wide range of purposes, including achieving a synergistic effect, breaking up corporations that have become too large and unwieldy, and to help companies expend their market share in other regions. Over time, merger activity tends to assume a pattern of waves that can be attributed to several known factors such as severe economic shock or lax government regulatory polices, but a wide range of other factors have also been shown to contribute to the cyclical pattern of wave mergers, an issue that is the focus of this study. A review of the secondary data provides a basis for the study's conclusions and recommendations presented in the concluding chapter.

Human embryonic stem cell research
Embryonic Stem Cell Research Introduction The use of human embryonic stem cells in scientific research has held great promise for some but this research has also produced powerful objections from others. Indeed, there is a profound if sometimes vehemently expressed moral argument that emerges from embryonic stem cell research. The principal objections to the use of these stem cells has come from evangelicals, conservative Christians and others who equate using embryonic stem cells with killing a potential human. Those who acknowledge the potential benefits that may be derived from research using embryonic stem cells tend to people who are politically progressive, college educated individuals, and those in the field of science and those searching for treatments and / or cures for Alzheimer's, cancer, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, among other serious health issues. This paper will examine both sides of the issue, all relevant arguments, and will attempt an unbiased review of what the current research into embryonic stem cell research has produced or promises to produce based on existing data and reports.

Prolegomena Kant Wrote the Prolegomena
This paper summarizes Kant's arguments in Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics. It first describes Kant's argument for the existence of synthetic a priori judgments such as Mathematics. It then explains how the possibility of such judgments also creates the possibility of Metaphysical judgments. Finally, it discusses Kant's view of the limits of pure reason and applies this critique to Plato's Theory of Ideas.
