Welcome, new international students!
No doubt, all of you are excited about your new adventure in the United States. You are probably worried about many things, including unpacking, trying new foods, and finding your classes on campus. Many of you may also be wondering about how you will meet new friends. On our college, as is the case with all American campuses, students are very friendly and willing to provide information. Even if you are from a culture where it is not considered polite to talk to strangers, don't worry about asking an American student where the cafeteria is or even if they would mind joining you for lunch!
American students may be louder, more willing to make eye contact, and more willing to touch you on the shoulder than might be expected in your home country. Don't be offended. Also, if you feel uncomfortable, don't be afraid to speak out. Americans generally would prefer to know if you are doing...
