It is from this spiritual foundation that I wish to approach healthcare as a professional nurse. Healthcare is my duty, and I shall see to it that I "freely give" of my energy to heal the sick and communicate the word of God via my work. Heartfelt concern for human beings is a core Christian ideal. In a Christian light, healthcare is not as controversial as it is made out to be in the American media. Rather, the issue of healthcare parallels the three Christian norms of love, justice and peacemaking. To love others is to put into practice Jesus' advice to love our neighbors as ourselves. No matter what a patient's background or physical condition, that individual has the right to receive the best care possible. Love is caring in action, which is the job of the nurse. Justice refers to equal treatment of all patients. Within a Christian healthcare setting, all patients are equal no matter their ethnicity, gender, or religion....

We treat all persons equally and offer patients equal care. Finally, healthcare is about peacemaking. Illness is the condition of the body being out of balance, and healing is the act of coaxing the body back to equilibrium. When physical healing is not possible, then the patient learns that spiritual health is more important than physical health.
Ultimately, healthcare is a Christian issue and reveals Christian values. The reason why Sarah Palin and other conservative Americans disagree with the Obama administration's healthcare policy is not just that it places limits on the private sector. The private sector is an important concern, because it enables freedom and justice. Coming from Cuba I agree that the government cannot possibly uphold an ethical health care system. However, Christians also understand that aspects like abortion are not conducive to a healthcare system based on love, justice, and peacemaking.

Management in Healthcare The value chain is a methodology developed in management studies to understand how firms derive value. There are five elements to the value chain -- inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing & sales and service.
