¶ … 2006 study by David Le Foll and Olivier Rascle entitled "Persistence in a Putting Task During Perceived Failure: Influence of State-attributions and Attributional Style" in Applied Psychology, one of the critical elements of maximizing one's ability to learn from any given situation is that of perceived efficacy. The study's authors focused on different attributional dimensions or personality traits and their effect upon learning. The authors gave particular attention the effects of subject's locus of control, the sense that the individual controls his or her environment and whether the person assumes external or internal states cause things to go well or fail. (Le Foll & Rascle 2006: 587). They studied 101 novice golf students and found that those students who practiced more during allotted break periods had a higher sense of self-efficacy and optimism. They had a stronger belief in their ability to control their environment, and thus exhibited greater motivation to succeed in at the task.

For workplace leaders, these results are significant. First, it highlights the importance of making all employees feel involved in planning and organizing a project. This gives employees a sense of ownership and control over the process and the result. Fostering a sense of control over the result and the orientation of an effort increases levels of persistence and motivation to succeed. Micromanaging employees can have the opposite effect. Secondly, optimism about success was strongly correlated with persistence and continued motivation. The results of the article thus confirms the idea that management is a participatory process, and that leaders must not simply dictate, which takes away the individual's sense of empowerment, rather leaders must listen and strive to learn from others. They should ideally approach their task with the expectation that it will succeed, and their employees will shine.

Employee Satisfaction And Productivity employee satisfaction and productivity ASTRACT Employee satisfaction directly links to organizational excellence and/or productivity. Maybe… Maybe not… Researchers regularly debate exactly what components contributing to employee satisfaction and the company's and/or organization's productivity. Similarly, employers and employees do not typically agree on the reason/s an employee stays committed to a company or what factors contribute to an employee's satisfaction with the company. During the mixed-method case study, the researcher focuses

One example of this is the "famous egg box metaphor of international society (in which states were the eggs, and international society the box), one might see this unevenness as a pan of fried eggs. Although nearly all the states in the system belong to a thin, pluralist interstate society (the layer of egg-white), there are sub-global and/or regional clusters sitting on that common substrate that are both much

How is it possible, then, that we can come to know anything? Methodological doubt is best represented in the first of the Meditations, "What can be called into doubt." In this meditation, the meditator is forced to think about everything that he has believed throughout the course of his life. He must then make a conscious decision to do away with all of these lies and begin again so that the

" Shin (2006) Shin also states that the CMC literature "illustrates shifts of focus to different layers of context." Early on, research relating to CMC in language learning and teaching looked at the linguistic content of CMC text to examine how language learners could improve certain communication functions and learn linguistic figures through CMC activities (Blake, 2000; Chun, 1994; Kern, 1995; Ortega, 1997; Pellettieri, 2000; Smith 2000, Sotlillo, 2000; Toyoda

The trainer will then focus on the steps to be taken to develop new skills. For example, if the trainer wants to talk about motivating, leading, negotiating, selling or speaking, it is best to start with what the learners do well before showing some chart on Maslow's theory, Posner's leadership practices, or selling skills from some standard package that has been develop elsewhere. Many foreign trainers make grave errors

Communication Review of Student PowerPoint The paper evaluates a PowerPoint summarizing a workshop given at Murdoch University by Dave Palmer in 2009. The workshop addressed the community building movement, an initiative that has gained popularity in Australia. Slide three stated introduces a group of four students, although while these are presumably the authors of the PowerPoint, this is never explicitly stated and should be explained clearer. Slide 5 ("Introduction by Dave), which
