Direct distribution means that the product would be sold by the manufacturer directly to the customer through the personal retail facilities of the producer. However this ensures better communications and a superior feedback, it has the disadvantage of increased costs. Indirect distribution means that one or more intermediaries interfere in the process of getting the product from manufacturer to end consumer. This involves reduced costs in comparison to the first method, but also means that the producer becomes estranged from the consumer as communications decrease and in order to find the desired information, the company will have to request the services of a tertiary party.
