¶ … Role of Management Research in Modern Organizations Summarize the article with an eye on the author's main point.

Collaborative management research differs from traditional research based on the different outcomes that are required (Shani & Coghlan, 2012). In their study, "Action Research and Collaborative Management Research: More Than Meets the Eye?," Shani and Coghlan (2012) provide an overview and comparison of action research and collaborative management research to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each for practitioners. In this regard, Shani and Coghlan emphasize that, "In collaborative management research, the shared interpretation or sense making of the data can be enhanced [and] possible action strategies developed and experimental action taken" (2012, p. 46).

In the most successful SMB implementations of collaborative new product development tools including PLM and PDM, priority is put first on process definition and process improvement.
