Introduction The main purpose of this assignment is to analyze the arrangement of the classroom environment and assess why this kind of environment would efficaciously meet the individual needs of children with autism. Specifically, the video is one of a self-contained classroom that is designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The paper will outline the different modifications as well as visual supports that have been utilized in the classroom setting so that children with ASD can actively participate in everyday activities.

Classroom Analysis One of the key perceptible aspects within the classroom that have been modified to facilitate learning for the students with ASD is visual supports. For instance, in the class tasks for the day, pictures have been used to illustrate precisely what will be the tasks for the day. In addition, it can be seen that each of the students including Aaron, Evans, Joe, and Amauri have a thread of similar pictures that demonstrate precisely what they will do.

This is largely beneficial for the students for the reason that individuals with autism can learn, understand and remember information more easily when it is presented in a visual manner. In fact, the students with ASD will easily learn new concepts and think of them in pictures because they may have challenges in comprehending both oral and written information. By placing the tasks in pictures, the classroom becomes a more inclusive work station for the students to learn and understand.

Furthermore, the schedule clearly delineates in pictures the specific materials to be used and the distinct directions for when the ASD students can move to get materials. For instance, the visual schedule shows the different tasks. For instance when they are done with reading, they can take papers from the folder. The schedule also shows how the students can use scissors and glue and the precise manner that they can undertake it. Secondly, the class environment has been kept with as minimal amount of clutter as possible.

In particular, the class has specific places for different items such as papers and pens being positioned in drawers. In addition, the papers and items have been put in shelves and stored in a clutter-free manner. The key benefit of doing this is to ensure that the students are not distracted easily and also at the same time making certain that they do not become over-stimulated by the other items within the class setting.

Furthermore, each of the students has their individual work stations in order to avoid being overwhelmed by the actions being undertaken by their fellow students. In addition, the students can become easily agitated and this can interfere with the individual activities being undertaken and in overall the learning process. Another modification that has been done in the classroom environment is that the art and decorations in the classroom have been positioned in one specific location which is right next to the door.
