Question and 2

Question 1: Discuss one job or field (e.g., sanitation workers, education) that you feel is not adequately compensated for their work efforts. Provide an explanation for your response. Support your response with an APA cited references.

I am of the opinion that educators are not adequately compensated for their roles. This is more so the case with regard to early childhood education (ECE). Indeed, it would be prudent to note that as Adelstein (2018) points out, the significance of early childhood education is yet to be reflected through early childhood educator wages. I have in the past had the opportunity to coach little kids on various subjects and I came to the realization that this is no easy task. Further, it should also be noted that ECE happens to be the foundation of all other academic endeavors. Thus, the preparatory role that early childhood educators play on this front, i.e. in as far as establishing a good foundation for future academic pursuits, cannot be overstated. Adelstein (2018) is categorical that the inadequate compensation of early childhood educators makes it rather difficult to not only recruit, but also retain qualified and skilled educators.

Question 2: If you were starting a new job, would you want to be paid at the top of your pay range or in the middle? What are the advantages and disadvantages to both? Provide an explanation for your response. Support your response with an APA cited references.

I would most definitely want to be paid at the top of my pay range. My assertion is on this front based on several considerations. To begin with, I am of the opinion that I possess the required skillset and capabilities to perform effectively in the job that I would be seeking. The said skills and capabilities have been acquired through years of study and commitment in the pursuit of knowledge. Next, I am also of the opinion that I have the temperament to perform effectively in an ideal role for which I am qualified. For instance, in the past, I have been referred to as a people’s person. I am of the opinion that this is a trait that would come in handy in as far as teamwork is concerned. According to York (2009), teamwork is one of the most crucial elements of organizational success. I am, thus, convinced that as people’s person, I would be more of a collaborator – effectively contributing towards organizational success in a big way. For the reasons stated above, i.e. in terms of what I would be bringing to the table, I would wish to be paid at the top of my pay range.
