¶ … dream of having a career in field of Actuarial Science started at a young age. This shaped my thinking by wanting to understand logic and the way conclusions were reached utilizing complex formulas. Along the way, this fueled my sense of motivation in assisting others. It focused on not only my own personal satisfaction, but the joy I experience when they succeeded. This is because I am an international student, who is the first in his family to go to college and can relate to the challenges they are experiencing. During this time, I dedicated myself to education and gaining real world experience. My journey took me to Ohio State University. This is where I received my Bachelors in Actuarial Science. Never giving into the temptations of college life, as I always remained focused on working in the field. I am motivated to use advanced statistics to help corporations, entrepreneurs and ordinary people to make sense of investing and insurance products. Achieving these goals required constantly putting my studies first and building upon these experiences. The most notable include: working in the Claims Department at China Life Insurance, assisting the Lending Officer at the Bank of China (in determining suitability for loans) and working as a teaching assistant at Able Education. These areas helped me to gain experience and utilize it in conjunction with my education. Working in the classroom, gave me a passion for wanting to make a different in everyone's lives. This is one of the main reasons why I am seeking out a degree in Actuarial Science.

Moreover, I learned how to use a number of different applications as part of my duties at these organizations. The most notable include: a proficiency in Microsoft C+ and Photoshop. These skills enabled me to work with some of the more complex programs, by having knowledge of them. In many ways, these skills helped to make me more valuable to the organizations I worked with.

In the future, I hope to be a good role model for others by wanting to encourage them to do more with their lives. These actions will motivate them to peruse their dreams no matter what. I used these skills in my education to reach out to other individuals and have a positive influence on them.
My primary goals are to make helpful contributions in the areas of statistics and enhancing the quality of financial analysis in Actuarial Science. This will occur through sharing my insights about the application and interpretation of these standards. To achieve these objectives, I will utilize my education as a background to comprehend the way they will influence different actors in the process. This is based upon a passion I have for learning about the subject and expanding my horizons in the areas of finance.

At the same time, I have a belief in giving something back through community service. This means that I have dedicated myself to helping those who are minorities and in need of greater amounts of support in adjusting to different countries. The most notable that I have worked with include: IESEC and Asian-American Midwest Conference. When I was at these organizations, they utilized my skills as an Asian-American to reach out to local businesses and help to promote the benefits this segment can provide.

In a number of situations, I used my ability to speak / write Mandarin Chinese and Korean to connect with those who are from this demographic. These skills have made me an invaluable part of these organizations, by knowing their culture and understanding the best ways to communicate with them. Once this happens, is the point they can see how we will benefit them over the long-term.

This is achieved by utilizing hands on training to give me better insights about how to apply key ideas and practices. These techniques allow me to make direct associations with key ideas and their importance to stakeholders. This is taking place by building off of the concrete experiences, reflective observations, abstract conceptualization and active experimentation. Concrete experience provides a basic foundation for understanding key ideas. This helps me to build off them in order to gain a better feel and comprehension of the material.
