My goal is to continuously work as hard and honest as I can to achieve my additional long-term goal, which is to climb the corporate ladder. Opportunities will arise where I have to prove myself and push to the next level, and I am prepared to do this. I have selected this goal because it fits my personality, my ambition, my interests, and is the career that I want in the business world. I am applying these goals to a career in the home-health field. To improve my skills and experiences I will make a conscious effort to learn the most about every job in the company in addition to my own. I will draw from my personal experiences, and will hopefully learn from the experiences of others. It is not enough for me to learn my job alone, and work as hard as I can by myself, but to support my co-workers, employees and colleagues. I must respect their experiences to learn from them and improve my career skills. My work has to elevate the performance of others in order to climb the corporate ladder and earn more trust and responsibility. This class has helped me prepare for these goals in several ways. This course reaffirmed the importance of respect, which covers several social areas within the professional world. First, I must be understanding and sensitive to different points-of-view. I have to respect my co-workers, even when I do not agree with them, and try to see the situation from their perspective. I must also understand and be sensitive to different cultural views, as this can impact plan of action, decision...

These aspects of respect are important in every setting. This class has also helped direct my skills of interests, both likes and dislikes, by helping me examine and form my career goals. This course helped me understand and identify my unique talents, and how to apply them to a career plan. Not only has this course helped me shape my career goals, it has assisted me in applying knowledge to my career that extends beyond basic supply-and-demand models. I must absorb the job market in relation to the current economy and manage conflict constructively, no matter my level of employment. This class has prepared me for different levels of the professional world that I was not previously acknowledging.
I consider goal-setting a requirement for the realization of career ambitions. Short-term and long-term goals are both necessary to follow a career path to completion. Short-term goals create the foundation for long-term goals, and continuously build upon one another. I plan to earn my degree, apply for a promotion, use that promotion to further my experience, use my experience to ask for higher pay, utilize my salary to support a family, and continue to diligently work to the best of my ability while respecting my co-workers and colleagues to ultimately climb the corporate ladder in the home-health arena. This class has helped give my career goals direction, and have helped me identify my particular skills and interests that I will apply to my short-term and long-term goals.
