Police officers, courts, and correctional facilities are the best known subsystems of the justice system. These three groups focus on catching criminals, trying them, and, respectively, on penalizing them. Police agencies range between providing services to identify criminals to actually capturing them. Courts are in charge of trying criminals, with finding out the truth with regard to particular cases, and with having judges and juries work together in providing criminals with verdicts that are in agreement with the gravity of their crimes.
