¶ … exist in our health care facility, which is located in a suburban area, is the lack of nurses to provide proper assistance to doctors and patients. There has been a reduction in the number of nurses in our hospital due to relocation of nurses to urban areas, as attracted by better work environment and better salary. As a resolution to this problem, while the number of nurses in our hospital is still lacking, all the nurses were grouped into teams having the objective to support each other and to maximize the delivery of health care service.

The basic idea of the solution is that no nurse will work individually and each nurse has the responsibility to support her co-members within her team. In this way, every nurse's time will be maximized into providing a continuous delivery of health care service. Similarly, in this solution, every team has the responsibility of supporting another team. If one team has a light work load, they are required to provide support to other teams who may need their assistance.

Based from my experience in my previous job in a similar industry, which similarly experienced the issue of lack of nurses, this type of solution is effective as it maximizes the work hours of every nurse, thus allowing a continuous flow of the delivery of health care service which balances the coming of patients and the need for the delivery of health care. This thus prevents the need for nurses to work late and extend their shifts. Moreover, this solution balances the work load of every nurse wherein no nurse will be found to have no work load while others are working hard due to heavy work load. And, most importantly, this solution balances the physical and psychological condition of every nurse as it prevents them from experiencing stress because support from other nurses is always available.
