These nutrient-dense foods offer satiety, helping athletes adhere to reduced energy intake while meeting their protein requirements. Athletes must vary their protein sources to ensure a balanced diet. By carefully selecting and incorporating protein-rich foods into their diets, athletes can support their performance goals and maintain optimal health during periods of energy restriction (Hector and Phillips, 2018).
