Nursing profession has undergone tremendous development to attain the respect and valuation within the society. The current trend states that nursing ranks as the highly trusted health professional group. One of the components for this development is the tremendous efforts put by women to wrestle the profession from men in the historic periods. This struggle towards development of the profession reflects on different perspectives: environmental, political, cultural, and social. Extensive nursing education in the contemporary world supplements the efforts of nurses in their service provision (Im & Ju, 2012). This helps to put nursing professional group at the top of other institutions. Implementation of technology also propels nursing to the top of the group of professionals thus building the efficient and effective reputation and image of the health caring unit. Technology improves the public trust on nursing professional group thus component for the development of the profession. The other reason for the development of nursing in the current setting is the improvement of clinical practices (Cherry & Jacob, 2011). One of the problems or factors threatening this position involves lack of respect from society members seeking health assistance. The second problem is the media portrayal of the nursing profession thus damaging the image of the professional group. This revolves around production of movies and programs aiming dangerous blows to the profession of nursing. Some of these portrayals are cultural in nature since they seem to attack women rather than the nursing profession (Ku, 2005). This approach tends to undermine the efforts of the nursing profession in enhancing the health profession within the nation. The other threatening position involves poor and adverse working conditions in some cases. Some nurses still endures longer working hours, mandatory holiday working hours, and ill treatment during their service delivery. This results from understaffing within the profession thus crucial to the development of the future health condition.
