Dr. Hall,

My name is ____ and I am writing to request that I be consideration for the Hall Foundation Scholarship Grant in the amount of $7,000. I understand that the grant is awarded to community college students who demonstrate a high level of commitment to their selected discipline. I am a shining example of this type of student, and would make a wonderful representative of the Hall Foundation if I were to receive this scholarship grant.

I am currently enrolled in a respiratory therapist program. I am working hard to maintain a full course load as well as my commitments as a full-time mother to four wonderful children. My husband is currently stationed in Iraq, so I am taking care of an 11-year-old, twins who are developmentally challenged, and my oldest, who is also a college student. My projected graduation date is 2016.

Despite the challenges of maintaining full-time studies and all of my family duties, I am committed to my scholarship. I have worked hard my entire life, and I want nothing more than the opportunity to complete my education and start my new career. I have always placed a high value of education, and I feel that my returning to school after all these years is exactly the type of example I want to set for my children. I feel that as adults, we have the duty to show the next generation how important education is, so that can have opportunities we never had.

I have chosen respiratory therapy as my field because there is a need for respiratory therapists now that is unfilled. I want to use my education to pursue a career that will be good for myself and my family, but also involve helping others to live better lives. This course of study will build on my previous work experience and the academic experiences that I have had in the past.

I hope that The Hall Foundation will see fit to offer me this scholarship grant. It will go a long way to ensuring that I can complete my program and achieve my dreams in life.
