As a management consultant, I am able to use my expertise to analyze and influence business decisions that will benefit the company. I enjoy the ability to provide helpful advice that help business succeed.
What are the major job responsibilities?
As a consultant, I have to manage and mentor those assigned to the project at hand, create and execute projects in accordance with client specifications, analyze existing procedures and protocols and provide recommendations for improvement, if any, and design concepts that will best fit the client's needs.
What are the toughest problems and decisions with which the consultant must cope?
The most difficult aspects of the job include having to comply with client specifications and ensuring that the client is happy with the results and recommendations of the consultancy.
How would the consultant describe the atmosphere/culture of the work place?
The culture of a workplace will determine how employees interact with each other and with their customers. Unhappy employees can be detrimental to the work environment and affect how customer and client relations are formed and maintained.
5. What type of work is performed daily? Weekly? Monthly? Annually?
On any given project, time must be taken to collect and analyze research and data, interview clients' employees and their management team, and prepare presentations and workshops. Once data has been collected, it must be further analyzed and recommendations and solutions are formed.

Employers often look for someone who has had success in the field in which they practice. They also look to someone that has had positive results. Recommendations from other firms may aid in their decision making process when choosing a management consultant.
7. Are there ways to obtain this experience prior to working in the field?
Some schools provide courses in management and consultancy. A Bachelor's degree in the field that is being consulted is also key, as well as experience and knowledge of the field.

Good qualities for the position are the ability to multi-task, manage time well, and be highly organized.
9. What entry-level positions are there in this field that a Management graduate might consider?
Entry-level employees are often tasked with conducting research and collecting data in the field. They are also charged with conducting focus group studies, the preparation of presentation materials, and spending a large amount of time in the field.
10. What are the key personal characteristics for success in this field?
The ability to think critically and analyze data carefully and in context with the project at hand has helped in consulting. The ability to think "outside the box" also helps with coming up with strategic recommendations.

Management consulting is a rapidly growing field and specialization opportunities are rampant in both the private and public sectors.

The salary for someone working in a consulting firm can range from $40,000 up to $600,000 for senior partners.

Hours are determined by the needs of the client and based around the client's work schedule.
