Simply put, an internship is essentially an undertaking similar to apprenticeship which apart from targeting university as well as college students is designed in a way that enables such students to develop hands-on skills or on-the-job training relevant to their chosen career fields. It is important to note that in this case, the cover letter must clearly and concisely highlight critical issues relating to the student's abilities as well as reasons for selecting the said company for internship. Further, the student must identify his or her area of specialization. In this case, it could help for the student to align his or her goals to those of the company. In addition to stating how he or she could benefit the company if granted the internship, the student may also state how the internship program could be of benefit to him or her. This is yet another critical step that the student must and should indeed pay great attention to.
