I am a student because I want to learn. The desire to learn is what makes you a student for life and not just the classroom. I know there are pressures from parents, peers and society to join a certain course or work for a certain degree, but in my case, it had always been self-motivation that influenced by education decisions. I have realized that as long as you have the keen desire to learn, there is nothing that would stop you from gaining knowledge. Getting an education is not the same thing as acquiring knowledge because the latter requires a deep desire to learn and know while the former is only looking for grades and a degree.

I know you can acquire knowledge through books and at home as well but the knowledge I sought had to come from a proper classroom setting. This is because it is here that we get to interact with other students and brainstorming helps me see other viewpoints and broadens my limited horizons. For example it is one thing to read Shakespeare in the solitude of your room with no one to offer explanations other than the one you have come up with and it is totally another to be in company of other students and an instructor who can guide you to different ways of looking at things. It is also important to mention here that when you don't have a real desire to learn, you don't really get to benefit from anything that is being taught- no matter how good or experienced a teacher is. However it is always possible that a very experienced and enthusiastic teacher would instill the desire to learn in his students and that is always very inspiring. I have been fortunate to come across few such teachers and they really shaped the way my educational progress shaped.

Kylie Michaels is a supervisor in the quality control department of XYZ Corporation. She is an honest and dedicated individual. She had been promoted to this position within one year of her joining the firm. Kylie has now been with the firm for three years during which she has proved to be an efficient team player and an effective leader. However over the last few months, her behavior and performance at work have both suffered due to her recent divorce. While the company supports her and is trying to be there for her in time of personal crisis, it is a difficult for the management as well. There are two very important projects that Kylie is working on and with her current lack of concentration; the management is concerned that she might not be able to complete these projects on time. However if the company reassigns these projects, Kylie would feel even worse because she has been a very dedicated employee.
