Question 1 Change may not be readily accepted in all instances. In some cases, change is accepted but sustenance of the same becomes a challenge later on. There are quite a number of potential barriers to change that could impede the full implementation of the suggested strategies to end nursing shortage in the OR. To begin with, failure to closely monitor change initiatives could make the desired change impossible to accomplish in the long-term. Failure to monitor the said change initiatives could lead to both deviations from the intended course and lack of commitment from those tasked with overseeing change. According to Magnaye et al. (as cited in Promes, 2016), in seeking to see through change initiatives, there is need for those responsible for the implementation of change “to scientifically track implemented change initiatives in order to accurately plan, evaluate, and monitor elements necessary for changing situation” (69). For instance, with regard to my EBP change proposal, there is need to ensure that the preparation of preceptors for their role continues within the prescribed time limits and that the preceptor program actually accomplishes the learning outcomes desired for those transiting to the perioperative nurse roles. Next, failure to align my EBP change proposal with the culture of the institution could impede change efforts after a certain period of time. In essence, this could lead to resistance to change whereby people...

Towards this end, there is need to ensure that the change efforts are led by persons that not only set the tone for the change efforts, but also embody and understand the institution’s culture. My EBP change proposal, therefore, ought to be implemented in a pace that does not upset the underlying standards of conduct and values within the institution.
Question 2

There are quite a number of avenues I could make use of in seeking to disseminate my EBP project. These include, but they are not limited to, health care or nursing conferences and professional journals. The professional journal I would select for this endeavor is The American Journal of Nursing. This more so the case given that this particular journal happens to be “the oldest and most honored broad-based nursing journal in the world” (American Journal of Nursing – AJN, 2018). Towards this end, I feel that the journal has wide readership and therefore, my project would get the desired exposure. Secondly, my project falls in the category of content accepted for submissions. In essence, the journal accepts submissions from, amongst other areas, “evidence-based clinical application papers and descriptions of best clinical practices, original research and QI reports, case studies, narratives, commentaries, and other manuscripts…” (AJN,…

Aortic dissection is a disease of the wall of the aorta in which the aortic blood bursts into the muscular layer of the great artery, thus forming a blood filled channel along the planes of the muscularis layer. This false lumen can re-rupture back into the true lumen, through a second distal intimal tear, creating a biluminal or double barrelled aorta. Due to weakened walls, there is threat of rupture

Nursing Higher Education and Leadership Clinical leadership is very important because of the problems that characterize the health care sector, including workforce shortage, high rates of change, staff chaos, quality issues, and safety concerns, among others. From history, the preparation of nurses for key roles in the health care delivery system is quite important and should not be overlooked. (Joseph & Huber, 2015). Nursing Administration-Staffing A strategy for recruiting nurses for the acute care units The effect of the nursing shortage crisis combined with higher patient acuity has become a crucial concern for the nursing management team. This relates largely to the balancing patient needs with staffing needs. Nurse executives at hospitals contribute to the shortage of women having numerous opportunities outside the health care industry and to inadequate compensation for work done. However, diverse

Nursing Theory: A Microscopic Perspective on the Theory-Practice Gap Jerniganm A paradigm in nursing theory exists today that equates nursing theory to a mirror, a microscope or a telescope. Meleis talks about this equation of nursing theory to a mirror, microscope, or telescope (2007). According to Meleis nursing theory that is like a mirror will reflect reality, but give it different shapes. Nursing theory that is like a microscope will focus in

Measuring the Efficacy of Nursing Education in Preoperative Care: A Literature Review In the nursing journal, The Critical Care Nurse, nurse Ruth M. Klienpell wrote in 2003 that the contemporary healthcare environment places an emphasis on measuring nursing performance in a process-based and quantificable fashion. The stress is upon "high-quality service at an affordable price,' and with "good outcomes." (Klienpell, 2003, p.1) But little guidance is given to nursing educators how
