The third experiment was conducted with water and glasses again, only this time the focus of the experiment was the temperature of the water. Three bowls were gathered and in the first was very hot tap water, in the second was cold tap water and in the third a mixture of both very hot and very cold water was used. The experiment called for a hand to be placed in the very hot water for a period of three moments, while at the same time the other hand was placed in the very cold water for the same amount of time.

The hand that had been immersed in the cold water, felt hot when it was immersed in the mixed water. The hand that had been immersed in the hot water, felt cold.
Conducting these three experiments did not yield the results that the researcher had expected, at least on two of them. The experiment showed that tasting sugar water before tasting water without any sweetener made the regular water taste sweeter, and that was expected. The results from the other two were not expected and, in fact, were the opposite of what was expected.

This is an excellent example of the brain emitting one expected result, while science emits another.
