Sales and Marketing Project Scope In order to make Winsome and its sister company more effective and more profitable players in the industry, a better integration of the two companies' operations and goals needs to be undertaken.

A large part of the communication and operational independence that goes on between these companies is the direct result of sales and marketing knowledge and methods, and this these two departments are amongst the most essential -- if not the most essential -- departments in Winsome when it comes to successfully carrying out this project.

The following paragraphs will briefly outline the scope of the project and its deliverables, specific exclusions and limitations of this scope, and finally the assumptions that are being made in the undertaking of this project, all in regards to the specific operations and contributions of the Winsome sales and marketing departments. The project will consist of creating more efficient and comprehensive communications between the sales and marketing departments at Winsome and relevant personnel at the sister company.

Such integration is a necessity of any business, and is especially relevant to the firms and operations at hand (Coe & Coe 2003). Winsome sales representatives will ultimately have greater access to product information and trainers/representatives from the sister company, while at the same time these representatives along with other personnel will have a higher level of communication with the Winsome marketing department concerning how to best present the products and discussing implications for sales training. This will lead to a more cohesive system as the companies move forward.

There are certainly some distinct limitations to the scope of this project; while enhancing communications between departments and companies in order to create more comprehensive, efficient, and effective operations and knowledge sharing there are certain separations in the "chain of command" that exist in the separate departments and companies. Such issues are some always major complications in any interdepartmental cooperation and have even larger impacts in inter-company operations, and maintaining/respecting the boundaries and hierarchies that exist is essential to long-term success as well as short-term cooperation (Knoll 2008).

For this reason, no new requirements for department managers will be included in the project, nor will any positions change in their hierarchy or in the essential aspects of their tasks and operations. Instead, existing positions, tasks, and operations will be modified and adjusted in order to meet the project's goals. This project assumes that the sales department at Winsome is ultimately responsible for a large portion of the profitability both at Winsome itself and at its sister company. It is also.
